EAST Dorset swimmer Claire Hayward is celebrating her first national medal after coming second overall in the National 5km Open Water Grand Prix series.
Hayward, the youngest of the finalists at 15, scored a total of 47 points in the series, 12 behind Jennifer Davies of Carnegie but 38 ahead of Ailish Williams of Taunton Deane.
Hayward, who swims for East Dorset Open Water Club and Bournemouth Dolphins, said: "I'm proud to be bringing my first national medal back to Dorset."
