BASHLEY and Dorset spearhead Glyn Treagus returns to action this weekend after a making a miraculous recovery from a broken finger.
The New Forest opener, who has been plagued by problems to the index finger on his right hand throughout his career, was sidelined after being struck by a Chris Wood delivery during Bashley's clash against Hampshire Academy on July 12.
But despite initial fears that the former Hampshire batsman would be ruled out for the season, Treagus will take his place at the top of the Bashley order when they meet rivals Bournemouth at Bashley Road tomorrow (1pm).
Treagus told the Echo: "Fortunately, it wasn't a serious break and was a split in the bone - nothing was displaced so it feels okay now.
"Hopefully I won't have any more problems with it. It's been a while so I'm really looking forward to playing.
"I probably could have played last week, but I wanted to make sure it was fully healed."
Treagus will also line up for Dorset in their Minor Counties Championship clash against Oxfordshire at Dean Park on Sunday.
And the all-rounder pinpointed the recent departure of county team-mate Darren Cowley as a huge blow to Bournemouth, who visit the New Forest on the back of last weekend's SEPL Twenty20 Cup quarter-final success over Hursley Park.
Treagus added: "I don't know too much about Darren's situation as I've been out of action, but Bournemouth were playing well at one point and they seem to have fallen away in the past couple of games.
"Losing both Darren and Paul Prichard probably hasn't helped."
Both sides have little to play for tomorrow other than the local bragging rights after poor league campaigns, although Craig de Weymarn's Bournemouth have the Twenty20 Cup finals day at the Rose Bowl to look forward to.
"We seemed to have struggled to get a regular team out and it's always hard when the team is changing each week," said Treagus.
"Some key batsmen have struggled with their form a bit, too, and there haven't been too many big scores."
Bashley: Sexton, Treagus, Thurgood, Jones, Childs, Neal, Armstrong, Morris, Waller, King, Nash.
Bournemouth: de Weymarn, Wainwright, N Park, J Park, Wells, Miller, Watkins, Denham, Ridley, Payne, Smith.
