CHRISTER Warren admits all the reports he's had on Dawlish Town indicate that his Wimborne side face a daunting task in Devon tomorrow.

The Magpies boss has done his homework on his team's FA Cup extra preliminary round opponents and everything he has heard points to a tough challenge.

Former Cherries midfielder Warren claims Dawlish, who were runners-up in the Western Premier Division last season, are a big spending club with a formidable set of players.

"I spoke to someone about them and it's quite frightening what they said," he told the Daily Echo.

"I don't want the lads to be afraid of them. We'll show them respect but it's 11 against 11 and comes down to whoever plays the best on the day.

"They're a really good team and it's going to be a tough test. They've spent big and have got some really good players.

"It's quite scary and they haven't really got weaknesses.

"We go there as the underdogs because they've spent massively on the budget.

"If it wasn't for Truro, they would have won their league last year."

Despite rating Dawlish as a strong outfit, Warren believes Wimborne can take heart from their pre-season performances, which saw them defeat Southern League sides Bashley and Leamington.

And they continued that form in Wessex Premier Division action on Wednesday night, earning a good 1-0 win at Hamworthy United.

This followed a disappointing opening match, when they fell to a shock 3-2 defeat against Brading on home turf.

Warren thinks his team's FA Cup hopes depend on which of his Jekyll and Hyde teams turns up on the day.

He said: "We were horrendous on Saturday and I thought we did well on Wednesday.

"It's a case of which team turns up. If it's the team from Saturday, we're going to struggle."

Magpies are boosted by the return of influential skipper Paul Roast, who is likely to come in at centre-half after missing the start of the season due to suspension.

But fellow defender Ollie Phillipson-Masters could miss out after suffering concussion in the midweek win at Hamworthy.
