TRANSFER-listed striker Jo Kuffour is poised for a move away from Dean Court - although any deal could be delayed as Cherries search for a replacement.
Bristol Rovers coach Paul Trollope yesterday revealed that his club had tabled a bid, believed to be in the region of £60,000, for the former Arsenal trainee, who handed in a transfer request last Friday.
But despite Trollope stating earlier this week that he hoped to strengthen his squad in time for tomorrow's League One clash against Hereford United, Cherries co-owners Paul Baker and Alastair Saverimutto have indicated Rovers may be forced to wait.
Asked whether Kuffour's imminent exit would be completed before Cherries face Exeter City tomorrow, Saverimutto said: "It's unlikely. We're still in talks with Bristol Rovers. It's unlikely to be done before the weekend.
"At the moment it's an intensive time, not least because there is only a week left in the transfer window and there is interest for Jo."
Baker told the Echo earlier this week that Cherries would not want Kuffour to leave the club until a replacement had been brought in.
And Saverimutto revealed that he was working hard, alongside manager Kevin Bond, to bring new players to the Dorset club.
"Kevin and I are very, very busy on that front, but it remains very, very tough in the market place," he said.
"Since the Football League share came back we've been pressed against the clock. We hope to bring our targets in."
Whatever the outcome of Kuffour's on-off move, his chances of being in action this weekend appear to be slim.
The striker, who was Cherries' top scorer last season, has not trained since Tuesday as he is suffering from flu.
Meanwhile, one player linked with a move to Dean Court in the past 24 hours is former Cherries frontman Alan Connell.
It is believed Connell, who is currently on Brentford's books, is in line to bolster Bond's attacking resources.
- As predicted in Tuesday's Daily Echo, Cherries have signed Charlton Athletic winger Scott Wagstaff on a month's loan.
The 18-year-old made two appearances in the Championship last season and could make his Cherries debut against Exeter tomorrow.
