KEVIN Bond is hoping Cherries can "bring out the best" in Craig Lindfield, after the young striker joined on loan from Liverpool yesterday.
Lindfield, who signed in time to be considered for selection this afternoon against Exeter City (3pm, Dean Court), will remain with Cherries until the end of December.
The England under-19 international has risen through the Anfield academy ranks and graduated to the senior squad ahead of the 2006-07 campaign.
Despite scoring 12 goals in the club's 2006 and 2007 FA Youth Cup-winning sides, the Wirral-born forward is yet to make his competitive debut for the Reds' first team.
But he is highly regarded and will add much-needed depth to Bond's attacking resources, with transfer-listed Jo Kuffour likely to leave the club shortly.
"He has a good attitude and is highly thought of up in Liverpool," Bond told the Daily Echo.
"The only problem, maybe, for so many youngsters at those sort of clubs, is they have so many players and can't give them all a game. They need to get them out to give them experience.
"I spoke to a couple of people I know there and everyone spoke really highly of him. I'm glad to have him on board and it increases our options up front."
Lindfield, who will battle it out with Brett Pitman and fellow loanee Ricky Sappleton for a starting spot, has experienced league football before.
The 19-year-old spent brief loan spells at Notts County in 2007 and Chester in 2008, and Bond believes this could be "hugely important" as he aims to settle into life in League Two with Cherries.
"Obviously he has a really good pedigree and I hope we can help bring out the best in him," added the Cherries boss.
Meanwhile, co-owner Alastair Saverimutto told the Echo last night that he was working to bring in another player and secure the services of a "major member" of the squad on a permanent basis.
But he was not expecting to seal any further deals until next week.
- Injury worries Jason Pearce and Marvin Bartley both trained yesterday and are likely to play against Exeter today.
But Shwan Jalal could be a doubt after limping out of the Canford School session with a dead leg.
