MAGNUS Zetterstrom believes the "relaxed" approach of Pirates' riders is the key to their club record- breaking run of 12 top-flight league victories on the trot.

Zorro made his claim after Poole Castle Cover had crushed Peterborough 54-36 at home last night.

Victory propelled the Dorset outfit five points clear at the top of the Elite League.

The winning sequence of seven at home and five away stretches back to June 9 and a 51-41 success at Ipswich.

Peterborough were the last team to beat Poole in the league, 46-44 at Wimborne Road on June 4.

Zetterstrom, who scored nine paid 10 last night, said: "It was great to be called back into the team while they are doing so well.

"It's making life easier for me because there's no pressure. I think the whole team feels that way as well.

"No-one feels they must do something special because you always know there's someone there to back you up if you have a tough night.

"To be part of a record is always great. Hopefully this one will stay for a while in the history books.

"The key (to Poole's 12-match winning run) is no-one feels under pressure to score.

"No-one is putting pressure on the reserves to score, or asking the second strings to get this or that.

"It means everyone is relaxed about their racing, and you race better under those conditions.

"Everyone is getting their points, home and away, and the atmosphere in the team is great.

"We're all working together and travelling together.

"Bjarne (Pedersen) and I are in the same team in Poland and we stayed in the same hotel on Sunday. We're getting closer as a team."

Zetterstrom, who captained Pirates to their last title in 2004, said they weren't getting carried away.

He added: "In speedway, anything can happen.

"The main thing is to keep the team fit and steer clear of injuries because even having one rider injured can spoil the whole season.

"That's why Lakeside are going through a tough time with three riders all out for the rest of the season, Jonas Davidsson, Joonas Kylmakorpi and Adam Shields.

"They can probably get a guest to cover for one rider who would score well in every meeting, but it's difficult to cover three riders.

"They'll find it a lot tougher and that's lucky for us, although you don't wish bad luck on anyone in this sport."
