A Christchurch motorbike rider will race in the Isle of Man TT race, returning after his debut year in 2023.
Christchurch motorbike rider, Jack Petrie, 26, has made his way to the Isle of Man to race in his second TT race weekend which is due to be held on June 1-2.
Petrie will race in both the Supersport and Superbike categories during the weekend and hopes to achieve more after his debut year in 2023, finishing 35th after starting 56th.
Jack said: "It's the best road race in the world and the level is so high. As a newcomer, you have to be on the pace pretty quickly even to qualify so it's very intense.
"Last year was good because there wasn't any pressure because I had no expectation of results, I could relax into it.
"However, this year has slightly more pressure as I'm riding for a team but it's more exciting because I think it's a big opportunity to get better results this year."
Jack began his motorbike racing career in 2016 and since has driven in international races and national races including the North West 200, Ireland's largest race event.
Racing for The People's Bike Team, Jack will race a Yamaha R6 and an Aprilla RS660 around one of the most dangerous tracks in the world which has so far killed over 250 riders.
He said: "I used to watch a lot when I was young and then in 2016, my dad and I decided to just have a go and I was pretty rubbish at first.
"Then I started to see it take off, start getting results and then year-on-year it got more serious and we're now in a position where we're riding in international races.
"It feels a lot calmer than it looks, your brain is going a million miles an hour but its calm when you get into and you know what you're doing.
"It's the challenge for me because, obviously you don't want to focus on the dangers but it is the most dangerous race in the world."
