ADIE Hunt is not expecting any favours from arch-rival Ryan Beck as Lymington go gunning for Southern Electric Division Two promotion tomorrow.
The Lymington captain and New Milton opposite number Beck are firm friends away from the wicket and will lock horns at Fernhill tomorrow with Hunt's side needing victory, along with a positive result for Rowledge against second-placed Ventnor, to guarantee their elevation to Division One.
The Sports Ground outfit could still gain promotion for finishing third, but that decision would be down to the league hierarchy.
But Hunt said: "The way I see it is if we win and Rowledge beat Ventnor then it doesn't matter because we'll finish second.
"But I'm not expecting any favours. Ryan said to me that if we go up he'll be really, really happy, but there's no way I am expecting any favours - especially as it's Lymington against New Milton.
"When we played them at home, they'd lost their last five, I think, and then they turned us over by nine wickets, so they got themselves up for that game really well.
"But we're in good form at the moment, we'll give them a good game and hopefully turn them over."
Hunt, whose side set up tomorrow's nail-biter thanks to a comprehensive victory over Liphook & Ripsley on Saturday, batted away suggestions of nerves playing a part in his side's fate, adding: "We're not expected to go up so all we can do is win our game and hope for the best elsewhere. We're guaranteed a top-three place and this is the first year since I've been captain where I've turned up and thought, There's no chance of us being in the bottom three'.
"I'd be happy with third place, but annoyed that we hadn't finished further up. We had that stupid game against OTs & Romsey where we should have smashed them to bits and we lost, so I'd look back at that game and think, What if'."
Lymington boast an unchanged side for tomorrow's encounter.
- LYMINGTON'S New Forest neighbours Bashley (Rydal) could find themselves in Division Two come 7pm tomorrow.
Andy Sexton's strugglers face a nerve-jangling battle against fellow relegation candidates Alton at Bashley Road, with defeat at home and a victory for Hursley Park against Totton & Eling potentially sending Bash through the Division One trap-door.
If the pressure on Sexton wasn't enough already, rumours of Totton fielding a threadbare side at The Quarters tomorrow will have done nothing to ease the strain.
Bashley (Rydal): Sexton, Treagus, Thurgood, Jones, Childs, Neal, Armstrong, Morris, Waller, King, Nash.
