DAVID Elm is hoping for a little bit of history repeating as Bashley look to kick-start their BGB Premier Division campaign.

Goalkeeper Elm has been sidelined with a shin injury sustained during Bashley's 3-1 defeat at home to Halesowen Town on August 23.

But the big stopper could be in line for a brisk return as Steve Riley's side go in search of a second straight victory against Banbury United at the Recreation Ground tomorrow (3pm).

Riley's side have started their second Premier Division campaign in almost identical fashion to their first, where they notched four points from their opening five games - before victory over Banbury at the Recreation Ground kick-started their push up the table.

And although Bash have already got that crucial first win out of the way with Bank Holiday Monday's triumph at Chippenham Town, Elm is hoping victory over the Oxfordshire outfit tomorrow can once again act as a catalyst for the season.

Elm told the Echo: "It's a bit of a coincidence, so hopefully we can get a result again on Saturday and get the season up and running.

"It's been a fairly steady start, but the win on Monday should give the boys confidence.

"We've got a few new lads and we've got to wait for everyone to bed in, but hopefully the result on Monday can kick-start our season."

Asked whether he was fit enough to displace Steve Hollick from Riley's squad tomorrow, Elm added: "I'm not sure if I'll be back yet. I've got to see the physio and it's still a bit sore.

"It's up to the manager, but I'd like to think I could get back in the side. I haven't missed many games over the past few years. But Steve's a good lad and a good keeper so it won't be easy."

The Echo was unable to contact Riley last night for a squad update.
