CHERRIES striker Enes Unal has been dealt a cruel blow, ruled out of Euro 2024 due to injury.

Unal had battled back from a serious knee injury earlier in the season to finish strongly with his new club Cherries.

The former Getafe man was part of a 35-man preliminary Turkey squad, which was due to be whittled down to a final 26 next week.

Unal, who has 33 caps for his country, was expected to be part of that final group, but has now been ruled out.

The 27-year-old suffered an injury during training with his country on Friday.

And it has now been confirmed Unal has suffered a fracture to the big toe on his left foot, which would not have fully healed in time to feature in the tournament.

As such, Unal has now been released from international duty.

He is due to link up with Cherries for pre-season in July, with his loan move having now been made permanent.

Turkey have been drawn in a group alongside Georgia, Portugal and Czech Republic for this summer's tournament in Germany.
