RYAN Christie says he is “dreaming” of reaching a personal milestone with Scotland at Euro 2024.
The Cherries midfielder is expected to be part of Steve Clarke’s final 26-man squad which heads to Germany later this month.
And Scotland will kick-off the whole tournament, facing the hosts in Munich, on Friday, June 14.
Former Celtic midfielder Christie has 47 senior caps for his nation, but with two friendlies in the coming days, could hit 50 in the match against Germany.
“I know that, believe me,” Christie told BBC Sport.
“I’ve been dreaming about it for the last couple of months.
“Everyone is in the same boat. No matter how many minutes we get, whatever happens, everyone is just desperate to do as well as they can for their country.
“That’s the great thing about this squad. There’s no pettiness or anything like that.
“If boys don’t play, we all push in the same direction to get a result. It’s really nice and probably quite uncommon in football.
“On a personal note, fingers crossed I manage to hit the half century.”
Scotland face warm-up friendlies against Gibraltar today (5pm), before welcoming Finland to Hampden Park on Friday night.
After facing Germany, Scotland have group games against Switzerland and Hungary, where Christie could face Cherries teammate Milos Kerkez.
Christie will be hoping to feature at his second European Championship, having played in the delayed 2020 tournament. There, Scotland picked up just one point from their three group matches.
This time, they are looking to get out of their group.
“That’s got to be the aim,” said Christie.
“The gaffer keeps telling us if we do that, we become the most successful Scottish team in history.
“The results we’ve had against big teams, especially in qualifying, will boost confidence.
“Experience from last Euros will play a big part.
“Some of it was pretty overwhelming, because we hadn’t been there for so long.”
He added: “You just want to do your country proud.
“You have so many Scots flying over and we want to give them something to cheer about.
“That’s the kind of pressure we love.”
