FORMER Cherries goalkeeper Mark Ovendale has joined Wimborne Town's coaching staff.
The strapping custodian, who was at Dean Court from May 1998 to August 2000, ended his playing career last year after succumbing to a hip injury while at Blue Square outfit Newport County.
After making 89 appearances for AFC Bournemouth, Ovendale moved to Luton for £425,000 in August 2000.
He also went on to play for Lincoln after originally being signed by then Cherries manager Mel Machin from League of Wales outfit Barry Town for £30,000.
Ovendale, who enjoyed European experience and Welsh league and cup success with Linnets, will coach Wimborne's keepers.
The 34-year-old will also be heavily involved in working with the rest of the Sydenhams Wessex League outfit's squad.
Magpies assistant-manager Adam Batchelor said: "We're delighted to welcome someone with Mark's experience to the club.
"He will be a welcome addition to the coaching staff."
Ovendale is completing a full circle by returning to Wessex level after beginning his playing career at Wisbech Town in the Eastern Counties League.
He was also on Northampton and Preston North End's books before gaining Machin's attention by going 1,072 minutes without conceding a goal for Barry in the 1995-96 season.
