ANTOINE Semenyo is looking forward to a busy summer with his country Ghana after a “roller coaster" season with Cherries.
AFC Bournemouth winger Semenyo will be hoping to help Ghana to another World Cup appearance with victory from two qualifiers against Mali (tonight, 8pm) and the Central African Republic (Monday, 8pm).
The Black Stars are currently fourth in Group 1 after the first round of fixtures, with three points from their two games so far.
Semenyo will look to take his form at club level into international duty, the forward’s first full season in the Premier League resulting in a return of eight goals from 33 top-flight appearances.
Capped 19 times by Ghana, Semenyo has major tournament experience with the African country, having featured at the World Cup in 2022 and the African Cup of Nations earlier this year.
Speaking to the Daily Echo about his season with Cherries, Semenyo began: “It's been really good, honestly.
“It's been a roller coaster. But I've enjoyed every moment and I'm just ready for next season.
“So we just look at the positives from now and then next season and hopefully it'll be better.”
A January signing from Championship side Bristol City in 2023, Semenyo has come into his own at Vitality Stadium after getting a pre-season under his belt.
Asked if he could pinpoint one area to his game that has improved the most over the last 12 months, the Ghanaian replied: “I think it's more positional stuff and knowing when to slow down the game, and when to speed up, that kind of thing.
“I've worked on that, the team have helped me as well.
“Just adapting to the game, the speed of the game as well. I've really improved on that. So next season, hopefully there’ll be even more goals.”
After international duty, Semenyo will be looking to work hard with his own personal training before linking back up with Cherries at the start of July.
But first, Semenyo’s focus is fully on Mali and the Central African Republic. “We’ve got two World Cup qualifiers, Mali and Central African Republic.
“So, I'll be busy.”
Semenyo then shared how he hopes to maintain his strong 2023/24 campaign into next season.
“I mean, just continuing the way I did this season,” replied the former Sunderland loanee when asked what he goals he had for next season.
“I just need to make sure I work hard this summer and then pre-season starts and make sure I get those goals.”
