DOMINIC Solanke’s contract with AFC Bournemouth reportedly contains a £65million release clause that can only be triggered by certain clubs.

That is according to the Athletic, who claim that only “leading clubs” in the Premier League and European top-flights playing in continental football can activate the conditions.

Solanke signed his most recent contract with Cherries at the start of the 2023/24 season, tying the talismanic striker to Vitality Stadium until the summer of 2027.

It has been widely reported that the deal that took Solanke from Liverpool to Cherries contained a sell-on clause of 20 per cent of any profit earned by a future sale.

Reports at the time stated that the initial fee was £19million, potentially rising further with add-ons.

Last season Solanke enjoyed his best-ever top-flight campaign, scoring 19 times in 38 Premier League appearances.

His performances as Cherries’ top-goalscorer earned him the Daily Echo/Micky Cave’s AFC Bournemouth player of the year award.

When last interviewed by the Daily Echo in May after being presented with the award, Solanke insisted he was very happy at Cherries.

So far this summer names such as Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have been linked with the 26-year-old.
