SERIE A outfit AS Roma have been linked with an interest in AFC Bournemouth defender Max Aarons for a second time.

Right-back Aarons is reportedly a target for the club from the Italian capital, according to Italian website tuttomercatoweb.com.

In 2021 Roma were first linked to the defender whilst Aarons was still on the books at Norwich City.

  • Former Cherries on the move this summer with contracts and loans expiring

Cherries swooped for the 24-year-old last summer, Aarons going on to make 24 appearances across all competitions in his debut season on the south coast.

Although Aarons seemed set to join former Norwich manager Daniel Farke at Leeds United, Cherries’ last-minute approach to the Canaries saw a deal completed for a reported £7million, potentially rising to £12m with further add-ons.

Aarons’ gametime was stifled by two separate hamstring injuries, with the England under-21 international missing the middle chunk of the season.

Tuttomercatoweb.com claim that Roma are tracking the defender in the case that current right-back Rick Karsdorp departs the Stadio Olimpico this window.

Roma have already lost one right-back this summer, with Leeds United loanee Rasmus Kristensen returning to Yorkshire after his one-year temporary switch came to an end.

Recent years have seen transfers between the two clubs, albeit with Cherries bringing players from Roma.

Left-back Mati Vina finished the 22/23 season on loan at Cherries from the Italian capital, before Bournemouth returned to Roma to sign Justin Kluivert on a permanent basis last summer.

During the 22/23 season Cherries were also close to signing Nicolo Zaniolo from Roma, with the player rejecting the move.

In their first season in the Premier League, Cherries also loaned winger Juan Iturbe from the Italian giants.

This summer, Cherries have appointed former Roma general manager Tiago Pinto as president of football operations at Vitality Stadium.
