CHERRIES midfielder Alex Scott admits he still has plenty to learn, but is hoping to use his first Premier League season as a springboard to “push on into the senior team” with England.
Like millions of football fans across the country, Scott will be glued to his TV this summer to watch the Three Lions compete at Euro 2024 in Germany.
He has been part of the England setup himself, from youth level, since 2021.
Scott then made his debut for the under-21s, the level immediately below the first team, in March of this year.
And having just finished his first season in England’s top flight, making 23 Premier League appearances either side of two knee injuries, Scott is looking to continue making progress.

The 20-year-old told the Daily Echo: “To be fair, I’ve never really been one to reflect and look back on things that I’ve done.
“I’m very much looking forward. This season is done.
“Obviously I can tick it off as a positive and I’ve learned so many things, so many lessons in playing Premier League football – on the pitch and off the pitch as well.
“I feel like I’ve grown massively as a person, which is very important and almost maturing into a young footballer in the Premier League is never going to be easy.
“Some people make it look a lot easier than it is. But this first season, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of lessons there and things I can take into next season to look to improve.”
Ahead of the final game of the season at Stamford Bridge last month, Scott took some time to chat to some of his fellow England teammates, who were part of the Chelsea squad, notably Noni Madueke and Cole Palmer.
England’s Euro 2024 squad is littered with young talent, with nine of the 26 aged under the age of 25, the youngest being central midfielders Kobbie Mainoo, Adam Wharton and Jude Bellingham.
“It’s a Euro summer, which I think everyone looks forward to,” said Scott.
“For me myself, being with the under-21s now, I know a lot of the lads that are in the Chelsea side and they’re obviously top, top players as well.
“A few of them are obviously on the brink of the senior side as well. So it’s exciting.
“Especially in England, the young players coming through are special. A special group of young talent coming through, whether that be U21s, U20s, U19s, right the way through.
“We’re looking to push on into the senior team in the near future.
“I think I’ve got so many things I need to learn to get there, but I’ll be trying next season to put my best foot forward and hopefully I can be in that senior England team one day.”
