WITH the aircraft buzzing over the cliff tops, Southbourne put on their own display in A Division and now head the table after blitzing the leaders West Moors 68-15. The attack was spearheaded by skips Olive Fidler (37-50) and Sue Dadson (31-10).

Second-placed Richmond Park were ambushed at Wimborne, where the Minster ladies, despite being relegated, belied their fate thanks to Lorna Foreman (21-17) and Jenny Clark (16-14).

There are five clubs in with a chance of joining Wimborne through the trap door, including Iford Bridge, Ferndown and Lymington, who all moved above Broadstone and Redhill Park.

Broadstone lost 6-0 at Lymington (42-33), while Redhill scraped up two valuable points when losing 34-30 at Iford Bridge.

Ferndown's 4-2 victory at Braeside (40-34) may prove pivotal in the final reckoning.

B DIVISION

THE top three, New Milton, Poole Park and Richmond Park, all recorded 6-0 wins.

New Milton were unyielding hosts to Pelhams, with Chris Cooke, June Boughton, Pauline McCarthy and Sheila Nicoll (30-10) setting the tone and Wendy Reeds rink (18-14) contributing to the final tally (48-24).

Poole Park lie one point behind New Milton after a convincing win over Ringwood (49-33). The Lakesiders' top skip Rosemary Spetch (24-11) was well supported by Sally Rowe's quartet (25-22).

Richmond Park are waiting to pounce on any slip-up by the top two and added to Bournemouth's relegation worries with a clear-cut 43-29 home victory. Skips Jill Bryant (24-16) and Brenda Streater (19-13) spearheaded Richmond's romp West Moors are still in contention after registering an easy 47-34 win over visitors Braeside, with Moors' top rink of Maureen Webb, Sandra Rhodes, Jean Anderson and Maureen Burfield (33-16) covering Braeside's winning skip Sheila Harris (18-14).

Argyll opened up a six-point gap over their opposition of the day, Swanmore, (41-26) after Doris Dedge, Kath Hooper, Joyce Budd and Norma Ritchens (25-13) combined with Joan Halliwell's squad (16-13) to ensure maximum points.

C DIVISION

LYMINGTON regained top spot, gaining a 4-2 win at Milford-on-Sea (44-33) - a result that condemns Milford to D Division.

Displaced leaders Brockenhurst surprisingly lost 6-0 at Broadstone for whom the top rink of June Bell, Val Rowberry, June Leaper and Maureen Day (23-9) combined with Sheila Thomson's quartet (22-12) to set up an insurmountable total (45-21).

Highcliffe remain in contention after returning from Fordingbridge with a 5-1 (45-32) success. Thelma Richardson's rink (25-12) laid the foundations as Pat Jolley's squad picked up six shots on the 20th end to level off at 20-20, with the last end being declared a tie.

Argyll emerged through the vapour trails on the West Cliff to take maximum points from Southbourne (37-32). Co pilots Joan Webb (17-14) and Joan Anthony's (20-18) efforts seem to be in vain, as Argyll look set to join Milford for the drop.

Verwood's 4-2 triumph over Christchurch (44-38) should ensure that both teams remain in this division.

D DIVISION

KINGS Park's (36-20) success over Swanmore all but guarantees them promotion.

Beryl Nuttall's rink (22-13) helped the Park to four points after covering Swanmore's winning rink (18-17).

New Milton I, though, kept up the chase with a 4-2 (42-34) win at Bournemouth, with Mary Harper's rink (25-16) covering the Meyrick Park club's winning skip Jean Rogers (18-17). This result relegates Bournemouth to the lower regions.

Pelhams I boosted their chances of survival with a 4-2 (45-38) home victory over Alexandra Park.

Redhill Park grabbed six points and a lifeline with a home victory against Pelhams II (42-39). Sylvia Wood's quartet (20-19) supported Chris Smith's rink, who recovered from a 15-20 deficit to come through (22-20) for Redhill.

Moordown's skips Pat Martin (29-11) and Cherry Webb (18-16) spearheaded a crucial win over Kings Park II (47-27).

E DIVISION

BRANKSOME Park are E Division Champions after Rosemary Staddon, Helen Elmiger, Val King and Lola Barker (28-14) collected 14 shots from the last four ends to set up a 4-2 (41-32) away win at Highcliffe. Fellow West Moors demolished visitors Richmond Park (51-28), with Elaine Hunt (25-12) and Barbara Tite (26-16) steering their squads to maximum points, while Braeside replicated the 6-0 margin inflicting an even heavier defeat (54-20) on Iford Bridge.

There was six appeal for the Southbourne team as Mary Burkin, Jan Pardy, Madge Simpson, Joan Courtney (33-17) and Yvonne Hosking's foursome (20-11) seemed to have hammered the nail into Wimborne's coffin.

Shelley Park's maximum haul at Lymington (41-31) leaves Lymo in the other relegation spot - for the moment.

F DIVISION

BROADSTONE and Poole Park are promoted after both registered 6-0 victories.

Broadstone maintained their one-point advantage after a decisive 48-28 home win over West Moors. Host skips Sibil Ball (26-16) and Peggy Friberg (22-12) both registered 10-shot victories.

Poole Park put paid to the aspirations of New Milton I, with Barbara Gladwyn, Pam Smith, Phyl Wallis and Joyce Mcindoe (21-11) performing the anchor role for the Lakesiders.

The Argyll club registered their third 6-0 win of the day, as the West Cliff team showed what might have been and, maybe what could be next year, as skips Mary Burrell-Davis (22-13) and Emmy Drinkwater (26-19) guided the team to an emphatic victory over Christchurch. And there were another six points at Redhill as Mary Pearce (30-11) and Gladys Rolfe (17-15) guided their squads to a comfortable win over Braeside.

Ferndown cruised to victory over New Milton II (42-29).

WITH leaders Moordown on a rest day, Richmond Park closed the gap to one point with a 4-2 (53-20) win over Milford-on-Sea. Park's Anslie Kirby, Margaret Shaw and Carol Gariano (35-9) put the match beyond Milford's reach. Poole Park continued the day's trend with a 6-0 success at Swanmore (38-32), while Highcliffe also claimed six points, but only due to Ringwood conceding the match.
