CHERRIES duo Ryan Christie and Milos Kerkez’s Euros fates will be decided in the final game of Group A, Kerkez’s Hungary losing as Christie’s Scots drew.

Both Scotland and Hungary had lost their opening matches, against Germany and Switzerland respectively, meaning they headed into the second group stage games in search of their first points of the tournament.

Kerkez and Hungary came up against hosts Germany, but were comfortably defeated 2-0 in the early kick-off.

Cherries defender Kerkez played 75 minutes of the encounter before being subbed off for Zsolt Nagy.

Despite starting Scotland’s first game, a heavy 5-1 defeat to Germany, Christie was relegated to the bench for the Scots’ clash with Switzerland.

With the game tied 1-1 late on, Christie was brought off the bench to play four minutes of added time.

The point likely means that victory for the Scots over Kerkez’s Hungary in the final group stage game will be enough to advance to the knockout stages.

Despite two defeats, Hungary are not out of the competition yet, despite being unable to finish in the top two of Group A.

That is thanks to four of the six third-place teams in the group stage advancing, depending on their records.

Like Scotland, Hungary require victory to advance to the round of 16.

The two countries cross paths on Sunday, June 23, with kick-off at 8pm.
