THE UK School Games had a triple silver lining for Zoe Watson, one of five Ferndown Otters swimmers in the England South team at Millfield.
The 15-year-old Queen Elizabeth's School student powered to a fine second place in her individual event, the 400m freestyle, in a time of 4:35.56.
She and club-mate Kim Rowles also made up 50 per cent of the England South teams which came second to overall winners England Central in both the girls' 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relays in 4:02.72 and 8:47.97.
Rowles, 16, was third in her individual event, the 200m individual medley, in 2:26.46.
Ferndown's national youth champion Fran Hughes contributed to an England South race victory as she swam the breaststroke leg in the 4x100m medley relay. Her split time was 1:15.65.
In her individual events, she came third in the 200m breaststroke in 2:41.17, missing second place by just 0.04sec, and fourth in the 100m breaststroke in 1:17.29, just 0.03sec behind the bronze medallist.
Craig Freeman recorded a split of 54.62sec to help England South to second place in the boys' 4x100m freestyle relay, the team recording 3:37.99.
He was also in the team that came fifth in the 4x200m freestyle event (team time 8:09.68).
Chris Campbell, 17, came fifth in the 100m butterfly in 1:01.67.
England South finished fourth out of eight teams in an event designed to familiarise talented young athletes with the multi-sports environment of a major games.
The Games were officially opened at Bath by Britain's double gold medallist in the Olympic pool, 19-year-old Becky Adlington.
Overall result: 1 England Central 256, 2 England East 241, 3 England North 240, 4 England South 210, 5 Scotland East & South 171.5, 6 Wales 165, 7 Ireland 131, 8 Scotland West & North 126.5.
