FORMER Poole Pirates rider Adam Roynon has signed for SGB Championship rivals Oxford Cheetahs.
Roynon began the 2023 season as a reserve at Poole, before injury curtailed his stay and he was replaced by Joe Thompson.
During his spell at Pirates, Roynon totalled 72+17 points from 71 races, across 20 meetings, playing his part in the BSN Series triumph.
The 35-year-old has been without a club since, opting not to make himself available for National League clubs this season.
Roynon has stepped up his presenting work this year instead, but shall now have racing duties to resume.
The Cumbrian has been snapped up by Oxford Cheetahs, who beat Pirates in a super heat after a 45-45 draw at Cowley on Wednesday night.
Roynon comes in as a 28-day injury replacement for Henry Atkins, who suffered a broken finger during a meeting against Poole earlier this season.
“Adam fits the bill and we know he can come in and do the job for Cheetahs,” said team boss Peter Schroeck.
“It’s been hard getting hold of suitable guests for Henry, while our thanks goes to Jacob Hook who did a great job in the several meetings he came in for us.
“With Henry still due to be out for a while, we had to make a move to make sure we maintain our push for the play-offs in the Cab Direct Championship and that is to bring in Adam for an initial spell of 28 days.”
Roynon is set to make his Oxford debut against Redcar tonight.
