PIRATES reserve Daniel Davidsson believes his side are under no pressure to stretch their 13-match Elite League winning run and create another new club record.

Poole Castle Cover head for Davidsson's former club Peterborough tonight (7.30pm) determined to make it 14 wins on the trot.

But Davidsson is not unduly worried if the Dorset club fail to extend their record top-flight winning sequence, which is just three short of equalling their all-time best of 16 in the second tier in 1990.

The Swede, who spent an unfruitful 17-match spell at the Showground in 2005, said: "We don't feel under pressure to continue our winning run.

"That's just for the fans and the people who keep the history books and the statistics. Records are more for them.

"Of course we want to win every meeting, but if it doesn't happen, if it's not a new record, it is not something we care about too much.

"Not for me, anyway.

"We can only take one meeting at a time, and to be honest, we have bigger things on our mind.

"We're trying to win the Knockout Cup and the league.

"That is higher up on the agenda than that record."

Pirates, who last suffered defeat in the league at home 46-44 to Peterborough on June 4, triumphed 57-35 at the Showground on May 8.

That was the same night Magnus Zetterstrom and Davidsson signed for the club to replace out-of-form and injured Karol Zabik and Zbigniew Suchecki, although neither new rider rode in Poole's big win in Anglia.

So Davidsson, who only averaged 2.94 for Peterborough in 2005, and Zorro are going there for the first time this term.

Asked if he had anything to prove to Panthers, Davidsson said: "No.

"I think I have proved my point to British speedway this year so far."

Peterborough now have ex- Pirates trio Ryan Sullivan, Karol Zabik and Lukas Dryml in their line-up - a completely different team to the one that caused a major shock by winning at Wimborne Road.

Peterborough: 1 Ryan Sullivan, 2 Lukas Dryml, 3 Kenneth Bjerre, 4 Henning Bager, 5 Daniel King, 6 Karol Zabik or Ty Proctor, 7 Claus Vissing.

Pirates: 1 Chris Holder, 2 Magnus Zetterstrom, 3 Bjarne Pedersen, 4 Adam Skornicki, 5 Davey Watt, 6 Freddie Eriksson, 7 Daniel Davidsson.
