TEENAGE striker Charlie Austin struck three more times for table-topping Poole as they made it six wins out of six this term.
The Premier League leaders have installed themselves as firm title favourites, and with Austin on seven goals already this season, the situation is looking bright for the Tatnam Farm club.
Dolphins boss Tom Killick, who also saw James Bailey-Pearce, Steve Smith and Stuart Brown net for Town, said: "Charlie is improving with every game.
"He's playing with a lot of confidence. He's only a young lad of 19. He's new to the club but he seems to be really enjoying himself.
"Charlie's looking a threat. If he carries on in that vein, he'll have an excellent season.
"Him and Stuart Brown played very well as a (front running) pair against Newport."
Killick, whose side conceded their first league goals of the campaign against the Islanders, added: "We looked relatively solid defensively.
"But two of their goals were wonder goals' from volleys and the third was a speculative shot which Jason Harvell should probably have saved, but made a mess of.
"There was not an awful lot we could have done about the other two."
Poole, who hope to build a new stadium in the town, also have ambitions of playing Southern League football again following their mid-90s collapse into the Hampshire League.
With his side currently on target for promotion, down-to-earth Killick said: "It's all looking very good, but things can change very quickly.
"We need to not get carried away."
Newport, who trailed 2-0 but pulled it back to 2-2 before slipping 5-2 behind, scored through Mark Watson, Alexs Przespolewski and ex-Bashley defender Darren Powell.
Poole Town: Harvell, Whitley, Poore, Dibba, Browne, Hubbard, S Richardson, Bailey-Pearce (Taylor 55), Gill, Austin (S Smith 60), Brown (Swann 60). Unused subs: Sturgess, White.
