ENES Unal will not be ready to feature for Cherries for “some weeks” having undergone surgery on a foot injury.

The striker was due to take part in the European Championship with Turkey this summer, only to suffer an injury during training with his nation, which forced him to withdraw.

The 27-year-old released a statement after the injury, which he described as “the biggest disappointment of my career”.

Unal joined Cherries on an initial loan deal from Getafe in February of this year and scored two goals in 17 appearances last season.

His move was made permanent this summer for a fee of around £14million, Unal penning a four-year contract.

Unal is now back at the club for rehab, photographed this week wearing a protective medical boot.

Discussing Unal’s permanent move and his injury, Iraola told afcbTV: “It was known from the beginning Enes would stay with us.

“For him, it has been an unlucky summer, because he was going to play at the Euros for Turkey.

“He broke his foot and he had surgery.

“He will have to wait. He’s still in his rehab process. We will have to wait some weeks until he is ready.

“He was looking forward to starting the pre-season strong, but he will have to wait some time.”
