DANNY Ford is calling on Poole Pirates to produce a consistent performance throughout against Plymouth Gladiators this evening.

Poole return to action at Wimborne Road (7.30pm), looking for the win which would take them to the top of the SGB Championship standings.

It marks the first of four scheduled league meetings in the space of 11 days for Pirates, with a cup clash against Scunthorpe Scorpions also during that time period.

Looking ahead to facing Plymouth, promoter Ford said: "We have ridden the fewest number of league matches in the Championship, but have quite a schedule ahead of us.

“It is crucial for us that we can be in a strong position heading into those tough away meetings.

“So a really positive result against Plymouth will be most welcomed, but we know that we are going to have to be on it from the very first green light and be a little more consistent throughout the team than we were against Edinburgh in our last match.

“Ideally I would like to see something similar to the score we achieved when Plymouth were last in town. On that occasion, in the BSN Series, we won by 26 points.

“We simply cannot take anything for granted but we are absolutely determined to send the Gladiators back to Devon disappointed."

Pirates welcome Vinnie Foord back from injury at reserve, while former Poole star Drew Kemp guests for the Gladiators in the absence of the injured Dan Thompson.

Pirates: Lawson, Thomsen, B Cook, Z Cook, Brennan, Hagon, Foord.

Plymouth: Covatti, Bowtell, Kemp (guest), Newman, Barker, J Thompson, Hook.
