DOMINIC Sadi scored twice as Cherries’ development squad rounded off their pre-season trip to Spain with a 3-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest B.

Alan Connell’s young side trailed 3-0 at half-time at Pinatar Arena in Murcia, thanks to a brace from Northern Ireland international Dale Taylor and an Alex Mighten strike.

Sadi scored twice after the restart to get Cherries back into the contest, but they could not quite avoid defeat.

It follows a 2-0 loss to Spanish second tier side FC Cartagena.

The early opening two goals came in calamitous fashion from a Cherries perspective. Lewis Brown miskicked in his own box, presenting the ball at the feet of Taylor.

Soon after, a poor Mack Allan clearance allowed Mighten to take aim, Cherries’ keeper unable to keep out the shot.

Things went from bad to worse when a clearance was charged down, the ball falling at the feet of Taylor to make it 3-0.

Sadi powered a shot through substitute goalkeeper Harry Griffiths, before finding the corner with a fine finish late on to reduce the arrears.

Reflecting on the game, Connell told afcbTV: “It was a difficult game against high quality opposition.

“We didn’t start the game how we wanted to, found ourselves in trouble and conceded goals that were avoidable.

“So there’s things we can reflect on and do better, for sure.

“The challenge at half-time was to respond, and we did that.

“I thought we played with loads of personality, loads of character and more quality.”

The development squad now return to England and will play Weymouth in a friendly at Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday (2pm).
