JAMIE Grose set the fastest time of the Upton Summer Series so far with victory in race four.

Now two thirds of the way through the 2024 series, only six age category positions look as if they have been won, with runners still fighting for the top spots in the remaining undecided categories.

So far, Kirstin Hay (PAC) F45-49 and Sarah Barrett (PR) F75-79 look to have secured tops spots in their age groups.

Along with Bradley Masters (WRC) M55-59, Steven Hogarth (PAC) M65-69 plus Poole Runners Ian Barnes M75-79 and Barry Mitchell M80 plus are all looking like they will top their age categories for the series.

Race four of the series was won by Grose of PAC, who recorded the fastest series time so far at 18:15.

He was closely followed by Rob Arkell of Poole Runners in time of 19:02, which was also his fastest of all four races.

Third place James Hill (JH Running Club) 19:43 has been very consistent with just 29 seconds between all four of his runs.

Female race four winner was Susie Hill in a time of 22:17 having also won race two of the series this year.

Hill was followed in by Rachael Haddow (PAC) in a time of 23:28 which improved on her third-place finish in race three.

The third-place female finisher in race four was Jenny-Lee Marshall (Purbeck Runners) 23:30.

The series team position looks positive for Poole Runners men’s team, who made it four wins in four.

For the ladies teams, in race four, Bournemouth AC finished ahead of Westbourne RC with Poole AC in third.
