YOUNG defender Finn Tonks has joined Torquay United on a six-month loan deal.
The full-back links up with the Gulls in National League South, under boss Paul Wotton.
Winchester-born Tonks, 19, recently signed a new contract with Cherries and will now gain senior experience in the sixth tier.
“It’s a great opportunity for me coming down to Torquay,” said Tonks, discussing his move to Plainmoor.
“It’s a big club with a good history, so it was a no-brainer when it came up.
“I’m excited to get started. National League South is a very good standard and different to what I’m used to.
“But I’m ready to step up to the challenge.”

Torquay have a good recent history of signing players on loan from Cherries, in centre-backs Sam Sherring and Archie Harris.
“Archie had nothing but good words to say about the club,” said Tonks.
“I spoke to him a couple of times and he really enjoyed his time here.
“I just want to get the most out of it if I can and try and get to the top of the table, that’s what we’re going for.”
Torquay start their league season at home against Enfield Town on August 10.
