GARY Havelock believes Poole Pirates have never been better since dropping down into the Championship than they are right now.
Pirates look well set to top the league standings, having won nine and drawn one of their 10 meetings this season.
As well as that, Poole have also progressed into the semi-finals of both the Knockout Cup and BSN Series.
They extended their lead over second-placed Scunthorpe Scorpions to four points with two away wins, edging past champions Glasgow Tigers 46-44 before a 53-37 victory at Workington Comets.
Poole will look to continue their hot streak when they host Glasgow tomorrow (7.30pm).
Reflecting on Saturday's win at Workington, 1992 world champion Havelock, who acts as team manager for most away meetings, said: “Wow, what a performance.
“Total domination.
“It’s amazing to see. I think, since we dropped into this league, I know we have always had good sides, but right at this moment I don't think we have ever been better.
“So, touch wood and keep everybody fit then all I can say is that it will take an absolutely fabulous team to beat us.
“It's down to us now. Down to the boys. How badly they want it and looking in each of their eyes then I can tell you, they want it. They really want it."
Pirates have completed an almost clean sweep of trophies since moving into the second tier in 2021.
They have won two league titles, two Knockout Cups and the inaugural BSN Series, but were beaten in the finals of both the league play-offs and KO Cup last year.
In-form Brennan produced a starring role against Workington, racking up a paid maximum 14+1, as he did a few days earlier at Wimborne Road against Scunthorpe.
“The whole team clicked perfectly,” said Brennan.
“The sun was out the whole meeting so all in all it was a good day.
“It's been a good tour. Having a busy weekend is always good.
“You are fresh on the bike and the mind's ready and we might be a long way from home right now but the journey back is certainly going to be a lot easier.”
At Glasgow on Friday, top scores came from Richard Lawson and Ben Cook (both 11), while teenage reserve Vinnie Foord had an impressive couple of meetings, totalling 5 and 6+2.
