CHARLIE Austin is back in non-league and could face former club Poole Town this season.
Austin, 35, made his name with the Dolphins between 2008 and 2009, scoring 64 goals in 57 appearances, which earned him a move to League One Swindon Town.
AFC Bournemouth were also interested, but were restricted by a transfer embargo at the time.
Austin progressed up into the Championship with Burnley, before playing in the Premier League for Queens Park Rangers, Southampton and West Bromwich Albion.
Following a brief spell in Australia with Brisbane Roar, Austin returned to Swindon in 2022 and has now joined AFC Totton.
Like Poole, Jimmy Ball’s Stags compete in Southern League Premier South, the seventh tier of English football.
In 2015, Austin was called up to the England squad, but did not feature in matches against Republic of Ireland or Slovenia.
