A TEAM representing AFC Bournemouth are through to the Walking Football Association national finals.

It comes after Cherries’ over-70s won the Southern League for the second time.

There were two Community Sports Trust Cherries teams in the seven-team division, with games held at Ringwood Community Hub.

And AFC Bournemouth Reds came out on top, winning 27 of their 36 matches, scoring 82 goals in the process.

They pipped Cove to the title by four points, with those two well clear of the chasing pack, which included AFC Bournemouth Blacks and Exeter.

Cherries now go through to the eight-team finals in Nottingham, between August 30 and September 1.

Birmingham, Portsmouth, Preston North End, Little Oakley, Kingston and Winstanley Walkers are among the other confirmed qualifiers.
