MAXIMUM man Richard Lawson reflected on a job well done against Glasgow Tigers, insisting Poole Pirates “owed them a big one”.
Lawson scored a perfect 15 points from his five rides as Poole eased to a 55-35 win at Wimborne Road.
The victory moves them seven points clear at the top of the SGB Championship table, leaving Glasgow down in fifth.
Tigers are the reigning champions, having beaten Pirates over two legs in last year’s grand final.
Discussing his 15-point haul, Lawson said: “No good for the average!
“But it was a good night. Obviously Glasgow are a good side and they pushed us early on.
“It’s always good to get one over Glasgow.
“They’re a capable team and obviously we owed them a big one, so it was good.”

Lawson set the tone in heat one, getting away well, ahead of Glasgow dangerman Chris Harris.
Veteran ‘Bomber’, a three-time British champion, top scored for the visitors with 11 points from six rides and posted the fastest time by a visiting rider around Wimborne Road this year.
That came with a 58.66 in heat five, finishing ahead of brothers Ben and Zach Cook.
But in his three rides against Lawson, the 41-year-old came off second best.
“It’s always a good battle when you’ve got Bomber against you,” said Lawson.
“We already saw that up in Glasgow. But I was making good starts and trying to keep him behind me straightaway.
“I had a look in heat 15 on the back straight and could see both of Glasgow’s and I thought ‘oh God, here we go’.
“But Ben made short work of that and soon slid up into second.”
Pirates return to action next week, with home and away meetings against fellow title hopefuls Scunthorpe Scorpions on Wednesday and Friday respectively.
