TOM Brennan hailed the “improvement” shown by young reserve Vinnie Foord, after the teenager recorded his first race wins in Poole Pirates colours.
Foord capped off an impressive eight days with his best score yet for Poole, totalling eight points from his four rides, which included two victories in a 55-35 win over Glasgow Tigers.
He finished ahead of the likes of Leon Flint, Jack Smith, James Pearson and Jason Garrad during a fine evening’s work at Wimborne Road.
Discussing Foord, heat leader Brennan said: “You can see the improvement week on week.
“Not only in points, but the way he’s riding the bike and the way he’s listening.
“Vinnie’s making starts and he’s okay when he does make starts.
“So it’s fantastic for us and massive for him.”
Brennan himself scored 10+1 from four outings, beaten by an opponent just once, which came when veteran Chris Harris claimed victory in heat 11.
“The start of the meetings are a little bit hairy for us,” he said, the scores having been level after five heats.
“It took us a while to get going, which we always seem to do.
“We all worked really hard in the pits, the whole team, and we managed to get the win in the end, so I’m really happy with the result.”
Poole top the league standings by seven points, with five regular league meetings remaining, before the play-offs.
