CHERRIES’ search for a striker has turned to Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah.
Following the big-money departure of Dominic Solanke, Cherries are on the hunt for a new forward, with the Premier League set to begin this weekend.
The transfer window closes on Friday, August 30.
The Daily Echo understands Cherries had a bid this week rejected by Porto for Brazil international Evanilson.
It is also understood Nketiah is on the club’s list of targets.
The Englishman did look set to join Marseille, only for the deal to break down earlier this week.
Nketiah is behind the likes of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus in the pecking order at Arsenal.
A fee of around £25million has been mooted as the potential price Marseille were set to pay and that sort of figure could be required should Cherries pursue a deal.
Nketiah, 25, spent his early academy days at Chelsea, before joining Arsenal in 2015. He scored in an FA Cup win over Cherries at Vitality Stadium in January 2020.
Aside from a loan spell at Leeds United, the Londoner has spent his entire senior career with the Gunners and is under contract until 2027.
He has featured in 168 competitive Arsenal matches, scoring 38 goals, with half of those coming in the Premier League. The majority of Nketiah’s appearances have been as a substitute.
Nketiah featured regularly throughout the England younger age groups and is the top scorer in under-21s history, with 16 goals in 17 appearances.
He made his senior England debut in October 2023, coming off the bench in a friendly against Australia at Wembley.
