CHERRIES have been handed a tough draw in the second round of the Carabao Cup, with a clash against fellow Premier League outfit West Ham United.

Top-flight clubs competing in Europe receive a bye through to the third round, leaving West Ham and Cherries as two of the best ranked sides in the hat for round two.

And, in the regionalised southern section draw, the two have been pitted against each other.

The game will take place at London Stadium in the week commencing August 26.

Andoni Iraola’s side twice drew with the Hammers last season.

West Ham, who finished ninth in the league in 2023-24, are under different management this term, following the arrival of Julen Lopetegui to replace David Moyes.

Cherries reached the fourth round of the EFL Cup last season, before a narrow defeat to Liverpool.
