ANTOINE Semenyo said Cherries ‘took the point’ after he scored a dramatic late equaliser against Nottingham Forest.

The winger, who played through the middle for AFC Bournemouth for periods of the game after Dominic Solanke's departure to Tottenham Hotspur, scored with just four minutes of normal time to play at the City Ground.

Reflecting on the game, Semenyo told Premier League Productions: “As a team we knew that we needed to come out in the second half and make a difference and we pushed them as far as we can and we got that late equaliser.

“We’ll take a point and onto the next.”

The Ghanaian was involved in a seemingly innocuous collision early on with Forest midfielder Danilo, as he rose to head the ball.

Both went down after the clash, and while Semenyo was able to continue, Danilo was stretchered off with a broken ankle after a seven-minute stoppage.

The 24-year-old said he didn’t remember much about the incident and remembered going up for the header but not much more.

“I landed on my arm, I didn’t really think anything of it but got up and saw that he was getting stretchered off, so sorry to him and hope he recovers well,” he said.

On whether concentration was a challenge after such a lengthy delay, Semenyo said: “I feel like for 90 minutes you have to concentrate anyway regardless of injuries or not.

“So as soon as I got up, everyone was just boosting my morale, confidence, just keep going, get on the ball, do some things, be creative, so I thank my teammates for that.”

The game at Forest was the first for Cherries without striker Solanke, after his big money move to Spurs.

Semenyo said while Cherries would miss the forward, who scored 19 Premier League goals last season, the squad had the firepower to continue without him.

“Having Dom in the team was great, he did a lot for us,” he said.

“But as a team we’ve got so many individuals that can come in and do the same thing he done, we just have to get on with it really and try and score as many goals as we can as a team.”

The south coast club announced last Friday that striker Evanilson had arrived at the club, taking the now-vacant number 9 shirt left by Solanke.

Semenyo said he was ‘excited’ to play with the Brazilian.

“Obviously as a team we’ve watched YouTube clips of him, and he looks really good but we’re excited for him to come in and make a difference,” he said.

“We’ve got a good team and an addition is what we need as well.”
