A FORMER Sheffield United, Fulham and Derby County striker and Canadian international has called on his national team to pick new Cherries striker Daniel Jebbison ahead of the next World Cup.

Paul Peschisolido believes the country should claim the 21-year-old, who was born in Canada but has represented England at under 18, under 19 and under 20 levels.

Peschisolido told SportsBoom: “One hundred percent Daniel is someone we should be looking at. It’s up to him to do his talking with his feet now but, if he does that, then I definitely think he can get a chance.

“The World Cup is going to be huge for Canada and anyone who can play for us should be looking to get involved.

“What we don’t want to do, which maybe we’ve been guilty of in the past, is miss out on people who are eligible to represent us but get picked off by other countries first.”

Jebbison joined AFC Bournemouth this summer from the Blades, having progressed through their youth setup and into the first team in south Yorkshire.

He gained some minutes in the Cherries side through pre-season, and with the departure of Dominic Solanke, he made his Premier League debut for the club from the bench against Nottingham Forest.

Jebbison previously told the Daily Echo he enjoyed his debut and he was happy to help the team as they searched for a late equaliser – which they found through Antoine Semenyo four minutes from time.

The forward may leave the club on loan this summer, but the decision on any potential move was delayed after Solanke left for Tottenham Hotspur.

The 2026 World Cup will be hosted across Canada, the USA and Mexico.
