EVANILSON is expected to make his first Premier League appearance for AFC Bournemouth on Sunday against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle.

Cherries boss Andoni Iraola said the Brazilian striker has trained well with the team in the week leading up to the game, adding that he thinks he will ‘be involved for sure’ in the game.

He said he was excited to have the record signing at the club, but Iraola acknowledged the difficulties for players coming into the squad, especially with language barriers.

“We don't want to give him all the info because probably it's too much,” Iraola said. “But at least the most important things for his specific position, so he can survive there outside in the pitch if he has the chance to play.”

Reflecting on what the striker will bring to the club, the Cherries boss said: “I think he's obviously a lovely profile.

“I think he's a pure number nine: He's comfortable finishing, but also, he can help us in the link up play.

“I think technically he's sharp.

“He will help the overall offensive game of the team, not only the finishing side.

“I hope he takes quickly everything that we are going to try to tell him, he starts combining with teammates, because I suppose it's not always easy when you change countries, different languages, but I hope this process goes as smooth as possible.”

Iraola believes the forward, who scored 25 goals in all competitions last season for Portuguese side FC Porto, ‘has the level’ and will help the club from the beginning.

“Obviously it's the mentality that normally the number nines have, they want to put their name there in the score sheet,” he said. “But I try to not focus a lot on these things. For me it's not so important.

“The ones that have been here the past season with me, they know - for me you have to play your game [and] sometimes you are going to be rewarded with the goal at the end.

“But I am not going to judge him because of the goals, I prefer he helps us to play well than he scores a goal on Sunday.

“This is for me, no doubt.”
