ANDONI Iraola wishes former Cherries club captain Lloyd Kelly well – provided he doesn’t play well on Sunday!

When asked how he would greet the defender, who returns to the Vitality Stadium after joining Newcastle in the summer, Iraola said: “The same things I said about Dom Solanke [in the] past week, I would say about Lloyd Kelly.

“I think he has been very good for us.

“The days before I arrived and also last season, I think he was phenomenal every chance he had to play.

“He played at a very, very high level and I wish him all the best.

“Obviously, I don't want him to play well on Sunday, but he's a very good defender and it's going to be tough for whoever he has in front, for sure.”

Iraola’s counterpart, former Cherries player and boss Eddie Howe, said Kelly is pushing for a spot in the starting 11 on Sunday.

“Lloyd is in good condition; he didn’t have a lot of match action,” Howe told the media on Friday. “He trained for roughly three weeks and trained really well. He has made a really positive impact with the group.

“I have been really impressed by his performances, especially when he came on in a difficult situation for us. He would say he is ready and he is pushing for a start.”
