LUKE Holmes has left Poole Town to sign for Bashley FC.

After signing for the Dolphins in the summer, the 27-year-old winger has decided to seek pastures new and join Dave Lewis’ Bashley side.

This was Holmes’ fourth spell at the BlackGold Stadium, and after only making two substitute appearances for Steve Tully’s side, he decided it was time to move on in his career as he looks for more game time.

Holmes first joined Poole for the start of the 2015/16 season following his release from Cherries, but only made a handful of appearances.

The ex-Cherries academy player has also had spells at Wimborne, Dorchester Town and Salisbury before joining the Dolphins for a third time ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

He made 47 appearances for Poole under Tom Killick over a two-year spell between 2021-2023 at The BlackGold Stadium.

Holmes spent the 2023/24 campaign at Southern League Division One South outfit Shaftesbury FC.

In July 2024, he signed for the Dolphins for a fourth time but after only four matches into the season and a lack of game time, Holmes has decided now is the right time to move on with his career.

Poole Town manager Steve Tully said: “During the week I’ve decided to let Luke Holmes leave the football club after a very good offer from Bashley and one that Luke really wanted to make, also I couldn’t guarantee him the minutes he wanted so it was best for both parties.

“We wish Luke all the best going forward and thank him for all his efforts at Poole.”

Poole welcome rivals Wimborne Town to the BlackGold Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday which should be entertaining to say the least!
