THE Dolphins host Tim Sills’ Wimborne as they aim to continue their good start to the campaign and push on into the playoff places.

A short turnaround following yesterday’s Southern League action which saw Poole come away with all three points after a narrow 2-1 win away to Marlow.

The Magpies not so fortunate however as they come off the back of a heavy 4-0 defeat at home to Walton and Hersham.

Poole manager Steve Tully has a full-strength side to pick from for the clash against their neighbours from the across the Stour.

Captain Jamie Whisken was substituted at half time against Marlow but after the game, Steve Tully said: “It was just a precautionary substitution so he’s ready to go on Monday”.

A few familiar faces return to the BlackGold Stadium tomorrow with the likes of popular defender Harvey Wright and highly regarded forward Will Fletcher who will be looking to get on the scoresheet against his former club.

The last time the two sides met in a league fixture was in the 2021/22 campaign where the Dolphins ensured they took all three points after a convincing 4-2 win with Tony Lee, Marcus Daws and Jack Dickinson all scoring for Poole.

The sides did meet last season in the Dorset Senior Cup Quarter Finals where the Dolphins progressed to the next round after a last-minute winner from Wimborne’s new man Harvey Wright.

Looking ahead to the derby day clash, Poole manager Steve Tully said: “It’s the first derby of the season, everyone is excited. I think it’ll be a big atmosphere; a big game and the players can’t wait.”

The game takes place on Monday, August 26, kick off at 3pm.
