POOLE Specsavers has announced it will be sponsoring two of the town’s female footballers.

The store will be supporting striker Emma King and right-back Georgia Kemp for the upcoming season.

This is part of the store’s commitment to supporting local athletes and promoting women’s sports.

Emma Gibbs, Poole Specsavers retail director and ophthalmic director, Sinan Khan said: “We are incredibly proud to support Emma and Georgia.

“Championing local talent is vital to building a vibrant sports culture within our community.

“We believe in the importance of empowering women in sports and are excited to see what this season holds.”

King said: “The sponsorship is amazing.

“It’s a huge thing in the women’s game as we all have to pay to play, unless we are at professional level.

“Not only have they helped me financially play another season, but they’ve also helped me see better whilst playing thanks to my contact lenses.”

The striker added: “I have loved football for as long as I can remember –everything from winning to seeing my teammates improve, being part of seeing the change in women’s football over the years and watching the younger generation be inspired.”

Kemp said: “It’s amazing to be part of a group of women who all work hard and inspire each other to be the best players they can possibly be.

“Poole Town Ladies are always striving to be better and progress up the leagues.”

Poole currently play in the Southwest Women’s Regional Football League and the Dorset Women’s League.

Right-back Kemp has taken on the team captaincy for this season, with King looking to be the club’s top scorer for back-to-back seasons.

Poole Specsavers can be found in Kingland Crescent near the Dolphin shopping centre.
