POOLE Pirates rider Ben Cook has provided a positive update after he suffered a heavy crash representing Belle Vue Aces last night.

Pirates skipper Cook had a heavy crash against Sheffield in heat 10 and was taken to hospital.

The Australian posted a positive update on his Facebook page, saying: “Hi everyone. A big thank you for all your comments and messages - they mean a lot.

“After a serious concussion/head knock all scan results have come back clear, which is a huge relief.

“I’m feeling a bit second hand today. I just need some time to recover but luckily I’ve escaped injury.

“I’m hoping to leave hospital later today.

“Ben.”

Poole sent their best wishes to their skipper after his crash.

Pirates look set to be without Cook for their trip to Oxford in the Championship Play Offs Grand Final next Wednesday, before they host the Cheetahs at Wimborne Road on Friday night.

Aces manager Mark Lemon said last night after the meeting at Owlerton: “My thoughts are with Ben, I hope he’s good. None of us want to see an accident like that.”
