BLANDFORD thumped Cobham Sports 5-1 in a convincing win in the Dorset Premier League.

The hosts were in control after two first half goals, but a disastrous start to the second half meant they cruised to a convincing win over their visitors.

George Coleman completed a second half hattrick to condemn Cobham to a heavy defeat.

The visitors started brightly in the opening exchanges but were caught on the counterattack in the 8th minute, with Mark Ford bringing out a good save from Jacob Deakin.

This proved to be a warning shot for what was to come, with Blandford opening the scoring three minutes later.

A firm cross from Reuben Stanley was met by Elliot Manson to prod home.

Cobham had their chances to level the game as Dan Naish brought out a fingertip save from Harry Foden, before Foden again kept Blandford in the lead a minute later, denying Josh Toop.

But the home side doubled their lead on 36 minutes, with Ford scoring direct from a corner kick to give them the lead at the break.

Cobham made the worst possible start to the second half and Blandford the best with what would be the pivotal goal in the game, as Stanley’s crisp cross was met by Coleman, making no mistake from close range.

Blandford had their best spell of the game as it opened up, with Stanley bringing out a good save from Deakin shortly after the hour mark.

The lead was increased on 62 minutes, as Stanley’s cross was met again by Coleman to make it four.

The pair combined again to add the fifth goal for Blandford, as Coleman was played in by Stanley before cooly finishing to complete his hattrick.

Jack Hughes turned the ball into his own net for a consolation goal for Cobham after 84 minutes.

But after Cobham thought they’d scored one more goal, with the referee ruling the ball had not crossed the line, the game finished as a resounding win for the Royals.
