MILOS Kerkez says the Cherries defenders know they have a lot to improve on as this season continues after Bournemouth were beaten away at Leicester City.

The 20-year-old is part of a defensive unit that is yet to keep a clean sheet so far this season.

At Friday’s pre-Leicester press conference, Cherries boss Andoni Iraola told the Daily Echo that he is looking to reduce the overall number of goals conceded and won’t worry specifically about individual clean sheets.

But Bournemouth lost to the Foxes on Saturday 1-0 after a 16th minute goal from Facundo Buonanotte.

Speaking after the game, Kerkez told the Daily Echo that the team were disappointed with the result.

“I think we started really well before we conceded the goal and after also we had some chances,” the 20-year-old said.

“We pressed and also in the second half, I think we came really good out, but as you saw, a lot of chances, but nothing went in today.

“So it is what it is. It’s football.”

“That's of course to keep the clean sheet and we're going to analyse ourselves as players, we're going to talk it through and hopefully from the next weeks going, we can do that.”

Looking forward, Kerkez is a part of the Hungarian national team’s squad for the upcoming international break, for the UEFA Nations League fixtures against the Netherlands and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After the break, Cherries face early title-contenders Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium.

“We have a tough schedule ahead,” Kerkez said.

“It's not how we wanted to end this week, but we have, like I said, tough games ahead at home. Arsenal, I think is next.

Marcos Senesi has also been frequently involved in the Cherries back four.  (Image: Mike Egerton/PA Wire) “So, we're going to prepare. We're playing at home. It's always a really, really good boost for us when we're at home.

“So, we have two weeks now to prepare and hopefully do a good game at home.”

From a personal perspective, Iraola is hopeful that the left-back can add more assists and goals to his game, as he becomes increasingly involved in the Cherries attack.

On his attacking contributions, the Hungarian explained: “I'm doing whatever the coach wants from me, so he wants me to get forward.

“First of all, he wants me to defend good and then to get forward. That's my job as a fullback.

“If you do everything properly, if you work hard, I think the goals and assists are going to come along.

“So, my job is to do what I'm doing on the field now. So hopefully in the future some assists can come.”
