A WALKING football club has celebrated a decade since it was founded with a tournament.

Beachcombers Walking FC in Christchurch reached the milestone this month with more than 40 members joining the club in the past 10 years.

The club held a tournament on Friday, October 4, which included a team of original members.

The tournament was capped off with fish and chips for those involved.

Beachcombers play internal games with four teams competing against each other in a round robin at each mixed session, for those over the age of 60.

The club do also take part in one day events in the area and play teams that are visiting Christchurch.

Alongside the activities on the pitch, the club has a strong social side, with a social committee organising events and activities, including partners of members meeting for monthly coffee mornings.

The club meets twice a week at Two Riversmeet Leisure Centre, every Wednesday and Friday in the morning, between 10.30am and 11.30am.
