VINNIE Foord was ‘riding his own race’ in the dramatic Championship Grand Final, where he was involved in two crashes in heats two and eight.

Foord collided with Luke Killeen in the second and Jody Scott in the eighth, and was excluded in the latter, with Oxford fans feeling he was also to blame for the heat two crash.

Speaking to the Daily Echo after Poole secured the Championship title with a sensational comeback, he said: “I was just riding my race.

“Both teams were riding as hard as they possibly could and there were a few crashes along the way, but I hope all the riders are okay and we move on to the next one.”

“[My] first year in the Championship and we won the league straight away, so there's two titles, one more to go, and I'm sure the boys can work hard and get it done.”

Foord said it was an amazing feeling when Zach Cook took the heat 14 victory to secure the victory for Pirates.

He said: “You couldn’t ask for a better team to do it with.”
