A SOLO sailor has set off on her maiden voyage to France to train for a round-the-world yacht race.
Poole Harbour Commissioners are "incredibly proud" to have sent Pip Hare ocean racing this morning.
Pip has embarked on her journey to France to prepare for the prestigious Vendee Globe 2024.
Starting on Sunday, November 10, from Les Sables-d'Olonne, the Vendée Globe is the world's only non-stop, solo, unassisted round-the-world yacht race, covering over 24,000 nautical miles.
A spokesperson for Poole Harbour Commissioners said: "Pip is an inspiration to us all, pushing the limits of endurance and sailing excellence.
"Her grit, determination, and passion will shine as she takes on one of the toughest solo ocean races in the world.
"From all of us at Poole Harbour, we wish Pip fair winds and safe travels and look forward to following her adventures."
