WIMBORNE secured a good point on the road as they played out a goalless draw with Bracknell Town.

It was the Magpies’ first visit to Bracknell’s ground they share with Sandhurst Town, with manager Tim Sills making two changes from the side that beat Tiverton last week.

Goalkeeper Alex Rutter, on loan from Salisbury, made his debut, while Lewis Beale returned on the left.

The visitors started brightly, with Harry Morgan flicking a corner wide in the opening minutes after it was won by Will Fletcher, played in by Jez Bedford.

The closest the hosts would come to testing Rutter came in the first half came in the opening 20 minutes, as Knight fired wide from the edge of the box.

Both teams were neat in the middle of the park but were unable to find a final ball, with strong defence preventing attempts on goal.

There was a nasty-sounding collision on 20 minutes between Beale and Bracknell keeper Eacott, but both were able to continue after lengthy treatment.

Wimborne were able to put crosses into the box from Matt Neale and Bedford, but these were cleared.

Eacott made the only save of the half as Neale’s free kick from the left was met by Sam Roberts, whose header wasn’t powerful enough to trouble the keeper.

The sides went in goalless without much threat to either goal, with a flurry of action shortly after the break.

Morgan had a shot blocked before Rutter tipped over an effort from a half-cleared Bracknell free kick.

But while Bracknell had the better of possession for a period, they were unable to test Rutter again.

Wimborne fashioned a couple of half chances as Harvey Wright tested the keeper on the turn, before Cam Munn audaciously had a go from 35 yards, only for the keeper to make a good sprawling save.

The game ended 0-0, as Wimborne kept their fourth clean sheet in the last five league games, remaining fifth in the table.
