VINNIE Foord prepared for the second leg of the KO Cup final as he would any other meeting – despite the focus on the young rider after he revealed people had made death threats towards him.

The 18-year-old said he was subject to horrible verbal abuse in the away first leg of the final at Oxford, when Poole Pirates won 57-33 to make them firm favourites to secure the 2024 treble.

That they did this week, as Pirates soared to another 57-33 victory to comfortably take the title to add to their BSN Series and Championship trophies already secured.

“It's been an awesome season, to win four medals in this season.

“It's been tough the whole way through, a few injuries but it's one of them things and it's been absolutely amazing.

“Both teams, Leicester and Poole, have been absolutely awesome to me. So I really appreciate the help from everyone.”

On the noise around him as a rider ahead of the meeting Foord said: “I just prepared the same way as I would for any meeting.

“I'm not really a big social media person myself.

“I try and keep away from it. But yeah, I just prepared for the meeting exactly the same and as soon as I my racing head goes on, I'll try 100 per cent.”

Speaking about his rides on the night, Foord said he felt he had put in a good performance.

“Maybe I could have done a little bit better but I can't complain,” he said.

“I think I got paid eight so yeah, it was double my average. So, it was awesome.”

With the 2024 season wrapped up, Foord said he doesn’t have a set idea yet where he will be riding in 2025.

“Obviously, I've had a few offers,” he said. “Nothing major just as of yet and obviously I'm still waiting for phone calls and more options and hopefully I can start the 2025 season really good.”
