A DETERMINED Swanage preserved their unbeaten run with a hard-fought draw with Westland Sports in the Dorset Premier League.

The Swans started brightly, with an early chance falling Josh Reavenall-Nuete’s way, but his shot was saved by the Westland keeper Wallis.

But the visitors led as Albie Turner headed home from a Kelson Pollard cross, giving Swanage an early 0-1 lead after four minutes.

Keeper Brad Smith kept the Swans in the lead with a big save, as Swanage missed opportunities at the other end to extend their advantage.

The sides headed into the break with Swanage holding a narrow one-goal lead.

Swanage came out of the break with the same intensity as they had in the first period, and nearly doubled their lead through Pollard from a free kick which went just wide.

Phil Ormrod missed a big chance to level the game for Sports on the counterattack, before Swanage went close after an Ocean Smith cross that Turner was unable to convert.

But the equaliser was found by Sports on 70 minutes, as Ormrod scored from close range.

The Swans kept pushing to find the winner, with Pollard narrowly missing the target from a Reavenall-Nuete cross.

Both sides had chances as the game entered the final stages, but neither team could find the decisive goal, as Paul Best and Cohen Lee were tireless in midfield breaking up play and creating opportunities for the Swans.

Swanage remain unbeaten under manager Craig Adams, since he joined the club in mid-September.

The Swans boss praised his side after the match: “Brilliant point today against another good side at DPL level.

“Five players missing from last week’s squad, but an outstanding team performance from the players available.

“Sweat and courage in abundance. We march on.”
